Impressive.
00:00:10
How'd you do it?
00:00:11
Well, I began with a coin.
00:00:12
Then tried a guitar pick.
00:00:13
I even used a cactus once.
00:00:15
I can scratch with anything.
00:00:17
Even this mic right here.
00:00:18
See?

We got Keith Herald on the show today.
00:01:11
And as I said yesterday, this is a listener favorite.
00:01:14
Everybody loves this clip because Keith is going to tell a funny story.
00:01:19
He's got lots of enthusiasm and he's going to encourage you to have a can-do attitude.
00:01:27
Keith Herald's coming up.
00:01:28
Sometimes the most painful part of getting sick is the getting better part.
00:01:34
Waiting on hold for an appointment, sitting in crowded waiting rooms, standing in line at the pharmacy.
00:01:40
That's painful.
00:01:41
Amazon One Medical and Amazon Pharmacy remove these painful parts of getting better with things like 24/7 virtual visits and prescriptions delivered to your door.
00:01:52
Thanks to Amazon One Medical and Amazon Pharmacy, healthcare just got less painful.
00:01:57
I reflected back on my life when I realized I said, "Keith, when did you really embrace this?"
00:02:04
Yes, I can't attitude.
00:02:06
The year was 1960.
00:02:07
He was my first day of kindergarten.
00:02:09
Who's trying to figure out how old I am?
00:02:12
I remember my mom coming in the room.
00:02:14
She said, "Honey, it's time.
00:02:15
Get up at the time."
00:02:16
I jumped up the first thing I noticed.
00:02:17
My mom had my school clothes all laid out.
00:02:19
My mom laid out a pair of jeans and a pair of quarter rows.
00:02:22
I didn't realize it then, but my mom was teaching me a yes, I can't attitude.
00:02:26
She was giving me a choice.
00:02:27
I couldn't make my mind up so I put them both on.
00:02:30
Do you ever try to walk with two pair of pants?
00:02:32
I could barely move.
00:02:34
My mom came back in the room and she said, "Honey, you got to make a decision."
00:02:37
My mom is going to leave it up to you.
00:02:39
It's a five-year-old little boy.
00:02:40
I put them in the quarter rows.
00:02:41
Why?
00:02:42
Because I thought I looked cute.
00:02:44
And you know what I love about them is when I used to walk, they kind of talk.
00:02:48
Switch, switch, switch, switch.
00:02:50
When I went through backwards, when I walked backwards, they kind of double-switch.
00:02:53
Switch, switch, switch, switch.
00:02:54
I'm going to be able to use the way a quarter was.
00:02:56
How many people still wearing those quarter rows every now and then?
00:02:59
If you can visualize a five-year-old little boy, swishing out to his mom's car, I was in the back seat.
00:03:03
I was just jumping up and down.
00:03:05
My mom got in the driver's seat.
00:03:06
She turned around.
00:03:07
She didn't say a word.
00:03:09
She just gave me a big o-hawk.
00:03:10
That's the first moment in my life.
00:03:13
I realized it's okay to get excited.
00:03:14
Had a date last week and I haven't had one in a long time.
00:03:18
I picked her up.
00:03:19
I was just so excited.
00:03:21
I got in the back seat and started jumping up.
00:03:26
Maybe that's why the date didn't go too good.
00:03:28
I'm hearing my mom driving the car up on Steven's elementary school.
00:03:32
How many mom and dance we have in the room?
00:03:34
I believe it's all about family.
00:03:35
I saw my school for the first time.
00:03:37
I thought it was the biggest building in the world.
00:03:39
I said, "Mom, mom, is that my school?"
00:03:41
We must have walked up 67 flights of stairs to finally get to room 106.
00:03:46
I still can't figure that one out.
00:03:49
I remember going up to the other boys and girls.
00:03:51
I remember my name.
00:03:52
I was right in the first row with a little tent car.
00:03:54
My name on the front and back.
00:03:56
I remember my mom waving goodbye.
00:03:58
She even blew me a kiss.
00:03:59
Pretty powerful computer, wouldn't you say?
00:04:02
You know, I'll never get in this Peterson.
00:04:05
My kindergarten teacher.
00:04:06
I don't believe anybody in their classroom could ever forget her.
00:04:09
The very first thing she said was, "Good morning."
00:04:11
You're the best.
00:04:13
You're special.
00:04:15
I'm honored to be your teacher.
00:04:16
Boys and girls, I'm going to go around the room.
00:04:18
I'm going to have each and every one of you saying.
00:04:20
And when you do, I want you to stand tall.
00:04:22
Because today, I want you to say your name as loud as you can, because I want you to never forget you're somebody.
00:04:28
Her eyes went around that room several times.
00:04:31
Her eyes finally locked in the mind with the big old smile.
00:04:33
She said, "Would you go first for Mrs.
00:04:35
Peterson?
00:04:35
Come on.
00:04:35
You can do it.
00:04:36
Stand up.
00:04:37
You can do it."
00:04:37
I jumped up.
00:04:38
I turned around.
00:04:39
Mom, mom, mom, mom, mom, mom, mom, mom.
00:04:42
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, and I'll never forget Nancy.
00:04:44
The girl in the back of the room with the pigtails.
00:04:47
She jumped up and said, "If he can't talk, he stutters.
00:04:49
He's having difficulty, Ms.
00:04:50
Peterson.
00:04:50
He needs some help."
00:04:51
I remember the little boy next to me, his name was Billy.
00:04:55
He looked up and said, "You're too tall.
00:04:56
You're in the wrong room.
00:04:58
I'd go home if I were you."
00:05:00
I said, "Dan, almost as fast as I stood up, and there's only two things I wanted at that moment.
00:05:06
One was my mom.
00:05:08
The other thing I wanted, I just wanted to go home."
00:05:11
You see, my boys kept repeating, "You're too tall.
00:05:14
You can't talk.
00:05:15
You shouldn't be here."
00:05:16
You see in kindergarten, I learned about rejection.
00:05:19
I learned about failure.
00:05:20
I learned about people not liking me.
00:05:21
But let me tell you what I also learned.
00:05:23
I learned that, yes, I can't add a student kindergarten.
00:05:27
I learned about love.
00:05:27
I learned about family.
00:05:29
I learned about persistence.
00:05:30
I learned about patience.
00:05:32
I learned about God.
00:05:33
You see, I ran home.
00:05:35
We lived about two miles away, and I believe it's the fastest I've ever run in my life.
00:05:39
Running up on the porch, my mom was coming out of the house.
00:05:42
I ran right into her arms, and if I close my eyes right now, I bitch, I can still feel my mom's type bear hug.
00:05:47
And I remember saying to my mom, my mom too tall, my mom, I can't talk, I can't go to school, and my mom just kind of squeezed me.
00:05:53
She said, "Honey, my man knows how you feel."
00:05:55
"Honey, this is a challenge.
00:05:58
We're going to work hard, but mommy wants you to know something, mommy's proud of you because you tried."
00:06:03
I'm going to tell you this right now.
00:06:06
I want to speak for 13 years of my life.
00:06:09
I learned that, yes, I can't add a student kindergarten.
00:06:13
In the sixth grade, I was six foot two, and that wasn't the problem.
00:06:16
The problem is only weight is 62 pounds.
00:06:19
Teacher used to take a row.
00:06:21
I stand up if I turned that in the angle.
00:06:23
She marked me absent.
00:06:24
I mean, on the windy day, I couldn't walk home by myself.
00:06:28
I had to hang on to somebody.
00:06:29
And the first time I took a shower, I had to jump around just to get wet.
00:06:32
What I'm simply trying to say, I don't know if you happen to be in my kindergarten classroom,
00:06:45
but I'm going to believe I'm going to finish something I couldn't finish seeing.
00:06:49
My name is Keith Douglas Harrow.
00:06:51
I'm honored to be in your presence.
00:06:54
I believe it takes a lot of work to get to where you are.
00:06:57
It takes a lot of special people to get to where you are.
00:06:59
I want you to give thanks.
00:07:00
I'm giving thanks.
00:07:01
Give yourself a round of applause.
00:07:02
I'm giving thanks.
00:07:03
If I can stand on this platform today with a microphone and speak to thousands of people,
00:07:13
you can come back here next year and next year and next year, you can get through anything if you surround yourself with the right kind of people.
00:07:21
Develop your dream team.
00:07:22
You stay focused and you walk by faith, not by sight.
00:07:25
I can tell you this is one thing I want to do before I go.
00:07:28
I want to generate some enthusiasm.
00:07:29
Oh, this audience is super fantastic.
00:07:31
I want to generate some excitement.
00:07:33
I'm going to put the room up right here.
00:07:35
This whole side versus this whole side.
00:07:37
When I drop my hands, I want you to stand up and clap for your family.
00:07:40
I want you to stand up and clap for the work that you've accomplished.
00:07:42
And I want you to stand and clap for the fact that you're going to make this year your best year ever.
00:07:46
When I drop my hands, I want five seconds.
00:07:48
You watching me going next.
00:07:49
Are you ready?
00:07:50
Tell you what, I'm going to take this group first.
00:07:52
I'm going to take this group first.
00:07:54
When I drop my hands, I want you to let it go.
00:07:55
Are you ready?
00:07:56
Five seconds, five seconds.
00:07:58
Ready?
00:07:58
Come on.
00:08:03
Come on.
00:08:07
Come on.
00:08:07
Come on.
00:08:07
Come on.
00:08:07
Come on.
00:08:07
Yeah.
00:08:07
We're going to take the best and make it better now.
00:08:09
I say it's the best for last.
00:08:10
I can feel some negative vibes.
00:08:12
I can feel some people going.
00:08:14
They got more people.
00:08:15
They may have more people.
00:08:16
One thing they don't have is they don't have your family.
00:08:18
They don't have who you are and they don't have your greatness.
00:08:20
When I ask, are you ready?
00:08:21
Shut out.
00:08:22
Yes.
00:08:22
Are you ready?
00:08:22
I got some people over here going I think they won yet five seconds ready ready ready go come on I got some people over here going give me another chance Enthusiasm where's it come from?
00:08:43
It comes from a Greek word to me is God or spirit with him if that was a contest who won?
00:08:49
We all want Because somebody over here looked over here and said there's Harry making a fool of himself.
00:08:57
I guess I'll go for it Final thing I'm gonna leave you with is don't use average words if you want to test the lives of people average words don't move people Good morning morning.

I took it that I'd been 12 years ago I made a commitment to myself I said for 21 days you're gonna walk in here and say it even when you don't feel it After two weeks people start coming in by my office to see if I'd say anything else One day my car broke down middle of a snowstorm had to get towed in Overhurt this big old guy outside my office.

00:11:54
God wakes you up Would you say fantastic It takes an inside discipline Well, I believe One of the main reasons why you're here It all started on the inside So in summary and final conclusion allow me to review a couple things.
00:12:11
I talked about I talked about having a positive attitude As opposed to a negative one the greatest gift you have is the power to choose I talked about the transmission of attitudes 70% of our attitude is nonverbal the number one impact you can have on somebody is a smile I talked about the loudest voice you hear Is your own convert negative self talk to positive self talk and I talked about enthusiasm It comes from a Greek word.
00:12:35
He's God or spirit within so in closing Allow me to provide a personal challenge Is that if adopted Is 100% guaranteed to net you're richer happier more productive life from the Optimus treat We should promise ourselves to be so strong Is that nothing could disturb our peace of mind?
00:12:56
We should talk health happiness and prosperity To every person we meet we should make all of our friends feel That they've got something in them.
00:13:04
We should look at the Sun inside of everything and make our optimism come true We should think only of the best We're going for the best and expect only the best we should be just as enthusiastic about the success of others As we are about our own we should forget the mistakes of our past and press on to the greater achievements of the future We should wear a cheerful Countenance at all times and give every living creature we meet a smile we should give someone's time to the improvement of ourselves We got no time to criticize others.
00:13:34
We should be too large for worry Too noble for anger and too strong for fear and too happy to be missed the presence of trouble You see my attitude is my life Oh,
00:13:47
I thank God for giving me a wonderful opportunity to remind you you're the best in the world You're at it's your life Repeat for me.
00:13:59
